What is Noise Induced Hearing Loss?

Otherwise known as NIHL, is a common sensorineural hearing loss affliction. As the name implies, it is often caused by loud sustained noise.

If these symptoms apply, your employer may have been negligent:

  • Tinnitus
  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Ear pain
  • Nausea
  • Hypersensitive hearing
  • Neck and jaw pain

Employer’s Responsibilities

Your employer has a duty to protect you from harm. Exposure to loud noise is inevitable within the military, but this does stop your employer from preventing the damage to the best of their ability.

They Must:

  • Ensure whenever possible, that legal limits of noise exposure, are not exceeded
  • Check and audit noisy equipment regularly
  • Provide protective hearing equipment
  • Offer breaks from noise as often as possible
  • Provide routine hearing and health checks

By failing to meet these duties, they have broken the law by failing to protect you. If you have suffered from this negligence, you deserve compensation.

What Can You Do?

Hearing loss is frustrating. Your employer may have been negligible in providing the correct safety measures to prevent NIHL. Complete your enquiry and potentially claim back the compensation that you deserve.

We understand that money won’t repair the damage inflicted. However, compensation can help you move forward with your life.
